Memorial Day Ceremony

Volunteer opportunity for band members interested in playing at Memorial Day Ceremony.  
 
Monday, 5/27, 9am (7:30am Call Time)

  • This is an optional event but HIGHLY encouraged.  Each year, the band participates in the ceremony held at St. Lucas Church.  It is outdoors "on the green" and around 200-300 spectators are in the audience.  Many veterans and active military will be in attendance.  The band will be featured before the ceremony begins and three times throughout the ceremony.  The whole thing takes two hours of your time and is a great and meaningful way to kick off Memorial Day.  This is one of the very best ways that we can "give back" as musicians.  Graduating Seniors---I hope you will plan on participating too!!!  

  • ~Itinerary~

    7:30am    Short rehearsal in LHS band room.  PLEASE BE ON TIME!
    8:15         Carpool over to St. Lucas Church
    8:30         Assemble and Warm up
    8:45         Play as people arrive
    9:00         Ceremony begins
    10:00       Ceremony concludes

    Reminders:

    1. Ceremony is sponsored by the Sappington-Concord Historical Society.  It is open to the public.  Invite your family!
    2. Parking will be available at St. Lucas Church.  
    3. TRANSPORTATION NOT PROVIDED.  Please provide your own transportation.
    4. Dress:  black band shirt, shorts, athletic shoes (no flip flops).
    5. RETURN SCHOOL INSTRUMENT AFTER PERFORMANCE.  Band room will be open briefly immediately after the ceremony.
    6. Have your flip folder and ALL patriotic music.
    7. Graduating Seniors:  Please join us!!!
    8. LOCATION-  ST. LUCAS CHURCH  11735 DENNY ROAD
    9. Band Truck will be available to transport large instruments and equipment.
