Lafayette High School Contest of Champions - Marching Band Competition

Location: 17050 Clayton Rd, Wildwood, MO 63011

*Load equipment on Friday night at football game

EAT LUNCH PRIOR TO CALL TIME!!!!

• 11:15am Call time at LHS - Show up in 4S’S with HAIR DONE
  • It is very important students arrive with HAIR SHOW READY as there is limited time to do hair before warm-up
  • Load bus 
• 11:30 Depart
• 12:30pm Arrive Lafayette HS
  • Suit up, Unload equipment 
  • Find a space and start warm-ups
• 1:30 Assigned warm-up time
• 2:00 Move to gate
• 2:15 PRELIMS PERFORMANCE
  • Remove uniforms, Dress down to 4S’s - Keep hair SHOW READY for finals
  • Instruments back in cases
• 2:50-3:10 Clinic following our performance (Main Gym)
  • Back to Stadium for awards ceremony
• 3:15 Prelims Awards 
  • We are in the BLACK Class
  • Group up for awards (we should ALL stand or sit together!)
  • Following prelims awards, finalists will draw for finals performance times

• 4:15 Dinner at busses (provided by Bandstanders)
• Finals start at 5:30pm (top 12 bands move to Finals)
• TBA FINALS PERFORMANCE
• 9:30 Finals Awards
• 10:00 Depart Lafayette
• 11:00pm Approximate return to LHS. 
  • Return equipment and uniforms
  • Help is needed to unload

MORE INFO:

• Students are expected to ride the bus to and from the competition.
• Please eat lunch before arriving to school.  Bandstanders will provide dinner.
• There is a concession stand at the contest so bring money/card for any snacks.
• Stadium seating is limited. Students must sit on the visitor's side of the field.
• No one is to leave the contest site without permission from Mr. Wyss.
• Everyone will exhibit the utmost courtesy toward other bands, especially during their performances!!
• OUR REPUTATION OFF THE FIELD IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY SUCCESS WE ACHIEVE ON THE FIELD!
• Parents- The parking lot will be very crowded.  Carpool as much as possible!

PERFORMANCE ATTIRE GUIDELINES:

• Please arrive in 4S's
  • MB: band shirt, band shorts, LHS black band socks, Dinkles
  • CG: band shirt, body tights, black leggings/shorts, LHS black band socks, Jazz shoes
  • Uniforms will be worn
• Hair should be DONE and show ready when student arrives.  
• No fingernail polish of any kind
• No jewelry (except for medical alert purposes) 
  • Any piercings or jewelry that are visible and can be removed, should be removed.
  • Clear “piercing retainer” jewelry is permitted.
  • Piercing jewelry that cannot be removed will be covered with bandaids
• Students will not get their uniform unless they are fully prepped!

SHOW HAIR:  

• This is for Marching Band (including Pit/Front Ensemble & Prop Helpers)
• No Shakos this year.
• Hair must be a color that occurs naturally on human heads.  
• Hair should be slicked back using a strong hold gel combined with hairspray, without a part.
• Long hair should be slicked back tightly into a low bun.  Medium length hair that is too short for a bun should be put in a low ponytail.  Short hair should be slicked back.
• What to use: hairbrush, comb, STRONG HOLD hair gel, STRONG HOLD hairspray, bobby pins, hair ties, hair net that matches your hair color (for bun).
• *Color Guard: Specific instructions regarding hair, makeup, and uniforms for performances will come from directors/section leaders.

SPECTATORS:  There is an admission fee for competition.  MB/CG/PH Students do not have to pay.
